When I'm tired, I want to eat.
Today, I am tired. I had to wake up much earlier than normal . . . my fatigue reminded me of the days when my children were younger and woke me every two hours around the clock. In those days, I could fall asleep rocking a child. And while I was awake, I'd eat continuously. Some women gain weight during pregnancy . . . I gained less than thirty-five pounds when pregnant and then put on more weight after the birth of the baby. In fact, I gained weight with my twins . . . and they are adopted!
But when you are tired and you can't nap, food seems like a solution, somehow. The only problem is that food doesn't solve exhaustion. Too much food will only make you fat and being fat will make you that much more tired.
When you are tired, you should sleep. When that's tough to do because of circumstances, you just have to remind yourself that food will not give you the energy you crave. It's not easy, but no one said life would be all sunshine and roses. Sometimes, we just have to do what we have to do to get through the day.
I'm tired now and will turn in early tonight. The boys have to be at school early all this week for state-mandated testing, so our whole schedule is topsy-turvy.
When you are tired but you can't nap, what do you do? Do you want to eat?

I wish I'd read this a few hours ago...I gave in to the wanting to eat when tired craving. I'm going to get ready for bed now! Thanks for the boost. =)

When I am tired and can't take a nap, I whine.
Unfortunately, the Toddler doesn't care.

Yes, I eat. Yes, I whine! I am learning, though, to call on the Lord. I know that sounds crazy, but Isaiah 40 says he gives rest to the weary and Matthew 11 says to turn to Him if you are weary and burdened. So, I figure He put me in my situation, so I call on Him to get me through it. But, yes, fatigue makes me not care about healthy decisions and want ANYTHING for a little energy. The worst is when I am exhausted AND hungry -- 'cause I figure that is just license to go nuts!

This has always been my major problem. Not enough sleep triggers the need to eat. I've actually read that it's biological (not just psychological). So I'll use that as an excuse. For you, Mel, get some sleep.

There are worse things than eating when you are tired. Especially if you are eating something that is healthy and can give you some energy (a small piece of cheese, for example, or an apple). The problem is, tiredness has a way of numbing the brain so the junk food looks just fine. And, therein is the problem.
Perhaps, after all, a nap is best. When you can.
Cheers!

I was just thinking about this the other day. Mostly, no possibility for napping, and I often do turn to food. Or coffee. I tell myself that a bit of exercise would receive me up better and more heathfully, but alas, Idon't often take my own advice...

Have you ever seen this;
Times to be aware that you are weak.
HALT
Hungry
Angry
Lonely
Tired.
H.A.L.T.
I didn't make it up.

I read an article last weekend that said not getting enough sleep can lead to a weight gain of two pounds per year. I think it was in USA Weekend. It said getting 8-9 hours of sleep is best for your weight -- but it didn't say why!
But you've nailed it here -- when we're tired, we eat. It's so hard to reprogram myself to drink a glass of cold water and walk around when I get tired.
Prayer seems to be the best help for me to continue on with my weight-loss goals! I ask God to help me desire those things that are good for me!
