Marty Wolff was a contestant on Season 3 of the NBC show, The Biggest Loser. He lost 125 pounds.
I'm going to interview him in the next week or so . . . and I thought you might like to contribute some questions. Post any questions about weight loss you might have for Marty in the comment section.
(And even though the scandal about him proposing recently to Amy, another contestant on the show is all over the Internet, let's avoid any questions about his personal life. This isn't the time or place for that.)

What a neat experience to interview someone whose not only lost so much, but done it so publicly! What I'd be interested to know is how much of an impact losing weight in front of North America had on him? Did the stress of that make it harder, or did admit to the problem in front of so many people spur him on?

How hard was it to go from the "Biggest Loser Bubble" they lived in (intense workouts on the show and really restricted eating), back to a normal life--where you have to work, juggle a daily schedule, and don't always have Bob there. What are some tips he can offer those of us trying to do this day-by-day in our normal surroundings?
I don't know about any scandal about him proposing, but Marty and Amy were two of my favorite contestants so I wish them all the best!

What about the loose skin associated with losing weight so quickly? Has he had a problem with it?

What's the secret to maintenance? Why do so many people lose it when they go to try to maintain?

I second the question about going from a relatively controlled environment and having 5 hours a day working out to a regular day to day life.

Has he regained any of the weight he lost?

What was some of his favorite, non-anticipated, results of his weight-loss? I mean we probably all look forward to fitting in a movie theatre seat better or something like that, but was there something unexpected that he was able to do?

Has he had to deal/cope with any injuries and how did it impact his progress?

I would be curious about maintenance, and if there are any foods he's forbidden himself to eat forever, or if he's just careful with portions and keeping up the exercise? What's life like on the normal weight side? How cool for you!

How in the world do you stay motivated in the real world without personal trainers and cooks?

Wow! Great questions! I was going to ask several of those already asked so I just will ask this one - what is the secret to his good personality. I didn't watch all the episodes of BL but every time I do see Marty, he seems to be so happy!
Ok, not a weight loss question but I bet it has a lot to do with how he maintains the weight!

Does he forget he's lost the weight and struggle with being a "thin fat person"?
Posted by: B | September 17, 2007 at 02:23 PM
What is his typical workout routine? I know he can't still be working out like he did on the show. So what does he do to maintain his weight?

I remember that he was a teacher, so my question is, is he still teaching? (I don't think so, after watching the reunion show) If not, is he still working with kids in the weight loss area?
I know you said no personal questions, but I think the reunion show mentioned that he and Amy had started some sort of fitness business. Can he tell us more about that?

How does he work his stomach, and what exercises does he do at home?
Posted by: LeeAnn | September 17, 2007 at 06:56 PM
I would like to know the exercises he uses to flatten his stomach I know there are some but none of them seem to work for me.

Does he still feel hungry if he hasn't stuffed himself or has his satiety point adjusted itself to a reasonable level?
Posted by: carrien | September 17, 2007 at 09:43 PM
How did he deal with the negative thoughts that run through one's head sometimes (such as "who are you kidding?", "you'll never lose the weight", "you've tried this before and you failed"... that sort of thing)?
Do those negative thoughts ever go away?
Also, once he was home, when he had a craving for something unhealthy and was *that close* to giving in and no one was looking, what did he do or say to himself to resist temptation?
Posted by: Jeanne | September 18, 2007 at 02:01 PM
I've heard rumors that the Biggest Loser contestants were doing crazy, unhealthy things before weigh in, like not drinking water and staying in the hot tub for hours. Is this true? And was Marty ever tempted by doing unhealthy things to lose weight - dieuretics, not eating, pills, etc.?

I have another two questions, if he ever journaled his food, how long did he do it and does he still do it? I second the question about loose skin, did he have to have any cut off?
Posted by: JanB | September 20, 2007 at 11:36 AM
Does he still 'get off' on just being a thinner, fitter person, or does the excitement wear off at some point? And does he feel like he can eat like a normal person now, or is he always struggling to keep calories in check?
