On the day after Easter three years ago, I gave up sugar, white flour, potatoes and white rice. It was my last-ditch effort to lose weight and I was scared. I had agreed to write a blog for ClubMom.com (which no longer exists) and I feared embarrassment and failure.
Instead, I found success and a community of supportive, lovely blog readers.
And so with regret, I must announce that I'm putting this blog on hiatus. For over a year, I have been working full-time online (for CafeMom.com--awesome website you should check out). I have four children and a husband. And now, I have committed to writing a novel by Thanksgiving. I am at my breaking point.
Clearly, something has to go. And that something is this blog. Just for now.
Meanwhile, I started my day with a bowl of old-fashioned oatmeal and a pledge to stop eating white flour, white sugar, white potatoes and white rice. I am determined to peel off the weight that found its way back to me. (I lost 60 pounds and regained 40!)
Now, please don't abandon me!
You can still find me blogging over at Actual Unretouched Photo.
You can follow me on Twitter or Facebook.
You can email me at Melodee (at) gmail (dot) com.
Plus, I have fantastic archives you can browse, even though there will be no new content for now.
I wish you all well. Please keep in touch.

Wow, you do have a lot going on! No worries - no need to overstress yourself, and if the blog has to be down for a while, that's okay.
I'll keep tabs on you though! :D

Mel--
I've already shared my feelings about this possible decision with you. I am glad that you are making a decision for your best interest. I will continue to read your other blog and keep in touch occasionally. I have reinjured a knee and have put 5 of the 25 pounds I've lost back on--through inactivity and poor food choices because I'm sad that I can't workout...sigh.
I will continue to pray for you. I know this is the right decision for you now, and I'm proud of you for being strong enough to make it. *hugs*

Decisions like this are difficult...I am having to make many of my own that are similar. Next year I will send two of four to public school for the first time (after being a homeschool mom for over 20 years) as part of my "bailout plan." How come sometimes we have to agonize over decidions others seem to make more easily?
See you around on Facebook...and hopefully back here some day. At my house if I mention you to the family, you are "Mel, the shrinking mom lady." so you have established that personna no matter where you happen to be now or in the future...you have that success to stand on!
{{{HUGS}}}

Good for you to say goodbye to sugar. It literally is the main culprit in the obesity epidemic and it is in almost everything.
Keep up the good work!

Sorry to see you go, but I totally understand that breaking point. I may just have to join twitter...even though I've been resisting.
