I haven't been here for a few days. I know. That's never a good sign.
But my exercise streak continues. I have exercised every day this year. Hooray!
And I celebrated by 45th birthday. My husband gave me a Wii Fit which gave me a "Wii Fit Age" of 42. So there's that.
Do you notice what I'm not talking about? That's right. My actual diet which is still making and keeping me fat. Sad, very sad. Also? Frustrating and embarrassing and ridiculous.
So I will be trying again, starting over, so on and so forth . . . and reporting back here. Look for me on Monday! (I know. It's just a Rule of the Universe to start a new diet--a new Lifestyle--on Mondays.)
Meanwhile, here's a link to an awesome site called Mindless Eating. (Have you read the book of the same title yet? It's very enlightening!)

Congrats on your exercise streak!
And now for another butt kick: I love your blog, but I don't think you're actually dieting naked. You're being coy about your actual weight and the amount and kinds of food you're eating.
Like this: I started WW in three weeks ago and weighed 193, which is what I weighed when I started WW in 2007. I lost 20 pounds and then was derailed by Thanksgiving and Christmas and basically gave up.
This time around I've lost 8 pounds, and now weigh 185.
Now, to answer your question: I eat mindlessly when my unconscious wants me to get fat. That's why two approaches to dieting work for me: any approach that has me writing down every single bite of food (Weight Watchers or calorie counting), or any diet that lets me eat unlimited quantities of approved foods (South Beach.) Without them, I'm dipping over and over into the bags of pretzels.
I need to be accountable for what I eat. And Mel, so do you.
(((Mel)))

Hi Mel,
I read your blog frequently, but rarely, if ever, post. I just wanted to congratulate you on your exercise streak, and recommend that you try the EAS More Workouts for the Wii. I've been doing the EAS and Wii Fit Plus since August, have not changed my diet one iota, and have lost 13 pounds and gone down a size. Check it out! And best of luck with your weight loss. I turn 45 this year, too---Happy Birthday!

Hooray for getting the exercise in Mel! AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Let me know what you think of the Wii Fit - my husband has been bugging to get it for me, but I didn't want to waste the money if it's piece of crap.
Just because you are "back on" on Monday doesn't mean you can't eat well the rest of today and tomorrow! :D
Hugs!

Happy birthday! :) And congratulations on your exercise streak. That's an amazing feat! And hey, we all have trouble getting back on the wagon sometimes. Be kind to yourself, and remember: Exercising everyday takes some dedication! Good for you!

Happy Belated Birthday!
My Wii Fit Age varies every single day I do the test. I can go from 20 to 59 in a day.
Congrats on all the exercising. Keep up the good work.

I'm sure I eat mindlessly. I went to the site, and I'm happy to see the book is available on CD. That works very well for someone who doesn't read books. :)
Congratulations on the exercise streak. I certainly need to both exercise and eat right to see any kind of change in my body weight. It's quite a balance, and it falls apart way too easily. All we can do is get up, brush ourselves off and try again.

Happy Birthday! Yeah, I definitely have a problem with eating mindlessly! I ate an entire cantaloupe the other day while I was working. An entire cantaloupe!! I mean, it wasn't chips at least, but c'mon! I blogged about it on my 150 of the Healthiest Foods in 150 Days Blog - http://stacia222.wordpress.com because while I'm trying to eat healthy, eating that much food mindlessly is not going to help me lose weight!
