My exercise streak is well underway, even though I've been exercise-bike riding instead of running/walking.
I have stayed up too late--I work until at least midnight and it's unfortunately common to look at the clock and realize it's almost 2:00 a.m. So I've napped after taking my daughter to school in the mornings. And then it's too late to run/walk.
But there's rarely a reason why I can't use my exercise bike after dinner (between shifts).
So, it's a balancing act I have to figure out. Exercise, sleep, and food--all important.

I am having the same realization. I prefer to get my exercise in before lunch, before breakfast is even better, but on days that does not work I am trying for after dinner.
We will see how that goes- today is the first day I have "skipped" my a.m. workout. I will let you know tomorrow if I really managed to jump on my stairstepper after dinner as per my plan.

I've realized that I have to let my perfectionism go. Just because the cool moms with the Energizer Bunny metabolisms are at the gym at 8:00 in the morning, doesn't mean I have to be there, too. I have to mesh my fitness goals with my personality, and I have a rotten personality in the morning.
So I'm walking on a treadmill for 45 minutes at 3 miles an hour. And sometimes I'm doing it at 10:00 at night.
It's not impressive, but it gets me moving. And no, it's not hard to fall asleep afterwards!

It's a lot easier for me since my daughter is 17, but I've found that "me" time works best in the morning - the time I blog, listen to the news on the t.v., drink my coffee - my daughter is already gone to school and hubby sleeps until 8:30 usually.
That way I have the evenings to hang out with them, and I work out during my lunch hour - gotta love that my office has a gym!
That being said, there are still days when I try to find excuses NOT to do something, and then I remember that not once do I ever regret working out!
Happy Monday Mel!

I was riding my road-bike indoors about an hour a day... i started at 10min a day slowly increasing my time. If you are having problems sleeping, try increasing your intensity a little more. i would sleep like a baby after a hard workout.
i would suggest buying a heart rate monitor to keep your rate around 60 to 70% max heart rate. Wal-mart has a decent one for 29 bucks!
