Have to admit I struggle with those kind of questions as well. Usually the things I come up with (so I can wear what clothes I want, so men will be attracted to me) are things I could be doing NOW, not just WHEN I lose weight.

Well done on the 4.5lbs!!!

Deb

1. To fit into my smaller clothes (thus increasing my wardrobe at no additional cost)
2. To look better in clothes.
3. To be able to get up from sitting or lying down easier and pain-free
4. To not be self conscious about myself, and wondering if people are saying "gee, she gained a lot of weight in the last few years"
5. To finally combat this sugar addiction!!

I want to lose weight so I can fit it my much too small clothes, and feel like I have my identity back. I don't feel like me, as a fatty lol

1. to be healthier physically
2. to be healthier emotionally...being overweight plays mind games on me.
3. to be comfortable in summer clothes like at the park or the waterpark
4. to wear and look good in cute clothes

Way to go! you are on your way to a wonderful you!

Congratulations on your loss! And thanks for the motivation :D
Here are some of the reasons I'd tack onto your 5:
6. Sex. It's better when you feel good about/not disgusted with yourself.
7. I love biking but I sure am making it hard on myself carrying around extra weight.
8. Facebook vengeance: I want those tagged pictures to be trophies, not embarrassments -- I want (myself and) other people to see me as an all-around success, not a failure (which, to me, this extra weight represents --not on anyone else, mind you. My judgment re: the correlation of weight to success is personal and NOT universal. Losing weight = a visible success to me but only when it's me. I'm happy for other people when they lose weight if it's what they want but never see them as failures for extra weight the way I see myself. Self-loathing is funny that way.)
9. To cut the pity party. No one likes being dragged to or surprised with one.
10. For the planet --and my wallet. Eating food I don't need to survive is economically and environmentally wasteful on every level. More food = more packaging, more transportation, more cooling and heating. I need to remind myself that that whatever it is will go to waste EVEN WORSE on my hips than in the trash because it will take more fabric to cover my body, more fuel to transport me, etc. Throwing away half a cookie is better than finishing it and not buying it at all is even better for the planet.

Well done! Sometimes it is good to go back to basics.

Yes Congrats. losing weight is hard. It took me 2 months to lose about 20lbs, and only 2 weeks to gain 5 of it back. I think women lose weight easier than men. Any stats on that. Anyway I am back on track. I also like the 5 reasons you mentioned for losing weight. dito..

May I ask you a question: is it healthy to lose so much weight in just a week?

I've heard it should be no more than 2 pounds. Is it true?

My five reasons are:
1. I already have heart disease, so I need to prevent future heart attacks.
2. I feel tired all of the time and give out of breath simply tying my shoes.
3. I don't like how I look.
4. I'm single and would like to attract a woman.
5. I hate feeling old.

Thank you. I'm giving blogging a try to keep me on the wagon...just started. And going through catharsis reflecting on every diet, shake, shot, pill I tried.

Thank you for the inspiration, and the reality check.
