So sue me.
It's been taunting me, this dumb box of chocolate-covered raisins, so I did what any fat woman would do. I ate it.
And now it's gone. That's a relief.
The rest of my eating today was good. I accidentally skipped breakfast but then had some whole wheat Triscuits and a piece of string cheese for lunch. Then, way too much time went by before I managed to eat again, but while dinner was cooking (Tator Tot Casserole, totally not diet-friendly), I had salad with some leftover chicken breast and a boiled egg.
I also roasted a small zucchini and brussel sprouts and enjoyed that a lot as my second course. No, seriously, I really did.
I ate the dreaded chocolate covered raisins while working tonight, then a little later had some whole-wheat pretzels (from Trader Joe's).
All in all, it was a pretty good day, I think. I normally try to eat breakfast but this morning was crazy because I walked the dog, showered, and then had to deliver a child to a playdate before rushing home to work at 10 AM.
Would you have eaten the chocolate raisins?
Hmm, would I have eaten the candy? If I couldn't come up with the one-time willpower to take the action to throw them away, yes, I absolutely would have eaten them. All of them. I know myself pretty well and I'm just kidding myself if I think "this time" the outcome will be different. I know no moderation when the portions are controlled by me.

Yes. That is my favorite candy. I would have given anything else to the kiddos!

I personally wouldn't have eaten the chocolate raisins, because i don't really like them. I LOVE mnm's so for me that would be something i would definitely have to plan to eat on day 1 or have removed from the house. I'm too weak to have them around. I have been reading old blog posts from fittothefinish and something the author (who has maintained a 150 pound weight loss) talks about that i also have done for the last 2 years is only eat those foods that are a 10, or my most favorite in regards to treats. The idea of never eating another candy or "bad" food again is completely unrealistic. I will eat desserts or those foods that i love, but only if they are my #1 choice. If i see chocolate raisins or a hoho it doesn't tempt me because i know that i can have my most favorite treat later. This mentality has saved me from eating lots of unhealthy foods. I dont want to waste my "fun" calories on anything less than a 10!

Well at least the chocolates are gone! Hey... there were raisins inside so not a total loss! :) My son's father came over and treated us to dinner. (Where are the random acts of food kindness when we are not dieting???) He took us to a Brazilian all-you-can-eat type (thanks again!) The waiters came to our table every five minutes with about 17 types of meat...in addition to a full salad/side bar with stacks of clean empty plate so you could "start-over...and over....and over" At $50 per person we were commanded to eat his money's worth. And since he was feeling so generous....he told us we had to get dessert.
I arrived home afterwards miserably stuffed and six hours later... my tummy still hurts... The sad thing about it is I kept telling him he didn't have to take us to dinner. I'm sure he could've used that $200 on better things.
Now feeling guilty and angry about my ultimate sacrifice to make him happy at my expense... I wanted to stay home and cook salmon while he visited and play cards games. I am in so much pain I think I need a laxative to relieve myself.
Tomorrow I am eating salad all day,,,, I don't wanna see another piece of meat! aaarrrgggh!!!

LOL! I love that you described it as "a relief" to have the chocolates gone. I've SO been there! It's such a part of my weird, diet-trained mind to think something has to be eaten and feel better when it's gone. I'm impressed it didn't ruin your whole day though. I've noticed that's often another part of the diet-mentality--once we've "blown" it, we might as well eat everything...and start the diet again tomorrow!
