Last night, I was texting with a friend and we came to the conclusion that what we really needed was a Three Day Challenge.
I thought it was a lovely idea and maybe we could start on February 1 but she said, "tomorrow?" and I said, "okay."
So today, I ate whole, unprocessed foods, starting with old-fashioned oatmeal with an apple chopped into it. (Seriously, chop up an apple and cook it in the microwave for two and a half minutes with your oatmeal and it's quite delicious.)
I'm hoping that three days will help me realize that I can actually do this, one day at a time, without freaking out at the idea that I can never again eat cupcakes, because face it, cupcakes are not going away forever.
Who wants to live in a world without cupcakes anyway?
So tomorrow, Day Two. I'm ready!
I LOVE this! Great idea. Isn't crazy how our heads get in the way? The thought of no more cupcakes EVER is daunting. The thought of no cupcakes for three days is doable!
I, too, have discovered the joys of microwaved fruit. These days, I'm microwaving blackberries for my treat.

Good job! One day at a time is the way, since it's really all we know we're given. (not to be morbid. LOL)

Great job and best wishes for equally successful day 2 and 3. At the rate I am going, I should go for a 1 day challenge. Seriously, I need to get my act together. A world without cupcakes is no world I want to know.

Dang it! I always forget about the authentication and will move on to the next blog. Sigh. Did my other comment go through? If not, I said that I had oatmeal yesterday, too. But I add my apple (and chopped nuts) after cooking. I like the apples crisp and cold. :-) I think those immediate challenges are smart! Give yourself no time to stuff your face in preparation for the leaner times. LOL You can do this!

I love your one day at a time attitude. The good news is that I think it gets easier too. Although we never lose our old habits, we do develop new ones. Plus, brain science shows that our tastebuds are constantly being renewed; so, who knows, maybe one day that oatmeal will really hold more appeal and taste better than the cupcakes. Ya think?? :)

I really enjoy reading your blog and appreciate how open and honest you are about the struggles of losing weight and keeping it off. I'm currently doing a combination of the Paleo diet and South Beach Diet (no grains, but I didn't give up dairy or diet soda). I'm pleased with the results in my first few weeks! Good luck in your 3 day challenge.

My mum was just telling me about some healthy-eating program (ie. diet!) where you 'fast' two days a week and eat normally for the remainder. I'm not entirely sure it's not a fad, but she claims to have some research from a legitimate source!
We'll see!

Well? How did it go?

Thought I would check in and see how things are going? I completely wasted January by sticking with all my bad habits. I'm afraid to step on the scale as I know it must be several pounds higher than where I started out this year. Tomorrow I start again. This time I will take action. February is going to be a great month for me! How about you? Let's not let half the year go by before we make progress. We can do this! Positive attitude = positive progress?? I'm trying to psych myself up anyways.
